GL SPECTIS 1.0 TOUCH AT THE CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB ARENA


The GL SPECTIS 1.0 Touch Optical Spectrophotometer is being used by Philips Lighting at the Chelsea Football Club arena.

Philips Lighting using our device in one of the best stadiums in the world – the famous Chelsea Football Club Arena (Stamford Bridge). Mike Simpson, technical and design director said that “The GL Optic device allows us to rapidly and accurately assess the quality (brightness, color and stability) of LED-based lighting installations. Philips has provided state-of-the-art ArenaVision LED pitch lighting for Chelsea Football Club making Stamford Bridge the first stadium for a top flight football club equipped with this pioneering lighting system, which will ensure that the stadium continues to be one of the most famous sporting arenas in the world.

The Philips ArenaVision LED floodlighting system is an innovative LED pitch lighting solution, designed to provide footballers, fans and TV broadcasters with the best possible experience and to support the latest Premier League requirements for TV broadcasting. These include lighting standards for high definition super slow-motion replays, avoiding the flicker synonymous with conventional lamps. The system can also be used to create special entertainment lighting effects that would normally require dedicated stage-lighting, providing the opportunity for the floodlights to be integrated into pre- and post-match light shows to help build the atmosphere and excitement in the stadium.

Speaking about the benefits of using the GL SPECTIS 1.0 touch at the arena, technical and design director, Mike Simpson, says “LED lighting is best tested with spectroscopic equipment; old-style lux meters and color temperature devices are not so accurate for LED-based lighting.
