Innovative medical markers capped to perfection

TorqSense transducers are playing a vital role in packing leading edge medical test kits at Axis-Shield in Dundee, which develops new diagnostic compounds that help with the early identification and management of critical illnesses.

Axis-Shield is a world leader in inventing new markers for identifying cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, sepsis, vitamin deficiencies and diabetes. Spotting early signs of such conditions during routine medical check-ups means treatment can be started in a timely manner, which leads to improved patient management, either curing or managing the problem.
Optical Torque Transducer
The compounds it develops are initially produced in low volumes, where automated processes are not appropriate. This moves to medium volume production once the product has been proven, approved and certified and the medical fraternity begin using it. Some compounds later move into high volume production, but it is in the very nature of medical advancement that in other cases Axis-Shield will keep on improving the formulations and developing new products fairly quickly. Thus Axis-Shield has a need for highly efficient medium volume packaging solutions that guarantee accurate and consistent adherence to performance parameters.
This led the company to commission a custom packaging line that could handle multiple products in a variety of different packaging formats at a rate of around 500-2500 units per hour. The line fills bottles or other forms of container with the compounds, caps them, labels them, groups them into multi-packs, applies outer wrappers and overprints key data such as production date, use-by date, storage, handling and usage instructions, etc.

Tunable, very stable LED Light Source OptiLIGHT 127 CLC - pick any color!  https://youtu.be/eoQHRzJa2_8

GL Optic has created a patent-pending product with ability to control the properties of its LEDs using a complex multilevel calibration procedure that characterizes each single LED light source, storing the spectral properties in the unit's electronic controls. The GL OPTI LIGHT LED 127 CLC (closed-loop analog feedback control) can be used as a reference luminance standard for display and monitor calibration systems as well as a reference for calibrating cameras and other optical instruments. The system combines a set of LEDs with an integrating sphere providing ideal light source homogeneity. It features a stable electronic feedback control system that produces light without any flicker associated with other light sources, which, together with built-in thermal stabilization, achieves remarkable color stabilization.

The GL OPTI LIGHT LED 127 CLC can be controlled by a PC via USB connection to create almost any color source. Alternatively, the settings can be set with the LED control panel. The available “Adjust” software is a recommended option which allows light coordinates to be preset according to the user's needs. Several light source standards are also featured, including D50, D65, D75, A, and TL84.
The active multilevel calibration system is divided into the basic factory calibration and permanent on-line calibration during operation without using an external metrological device. The GL OPTI LIGHT LED 127 CLC effectively self-controls its operating conditions and adjusts the light result with reproducible stability.
The LED technology used in GL OPTI LIGHT LED 127 CLC not only exceeds conventional LED sources in light quality, but is now for the first time able to replicate a tremendous color space with the highest quality.  http://www.saelig.com/MFR00137/M00137002.htm

Saelig Introduces RMS-06x0 For Radiated Power Measurements Without An Anechoic Chamber

Saelig Company, Inc. has introduced the portable, compact MegiQ RMS-0640/0660 Radiation Measurement Systems, turnkey systems that can measure antenna and equipment radiation patterns and Total Radiated Power (TRP) of an RF device from 600MHz to 4/6GHz.  The RMS-06x0 system consists of a measurement antenna, a measurement receiver with optional signal generator, a motorized turntable, and application software for system control and calculations.  This system removes the need for an expensive anechoic chamber for most applications.  Moderate lab space is all that is needed in order to obtain accurate 3-axis radiation patterns and TRP calculations.  Extensive testing and comparison with anechoic test lab measurements has shown that the measurement accuracy of the RMS-06x0 approximates very well to anechoic measurements.RMS-0740 Radiation Pattern
The application software provided makes the measurement procedure straightforward.  It provides for storage and reporting of the experimental results, which can be presented in Field Strength, ERP and antenna gain. Total Radiated Power and other statistics are calculated from 3-axis rotations. Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) of a wireless device can also be calculated to comply with certain classes of device.
Two turntables are available for the RMS-06x0 package, a light-weight turntable for small products and a heavy duty table for larger devices. The measurement unit has a dual channel receiver that allows measuring two polarizations in one rotation, allowing a 3-axis measurement to be taken in less than 2 minutes.
Devices under test can be measured standalone in constant carrier mode, while a separate generator output is available that allows for full characterization and frequency sweep of custom antennas and prototypes.
One of the most important properties of a wireless device is how much it actually radiates, or the efficiency of an antenna. This is typically measured in an anechoic chamber at an expensive test lab.  Another  time-consuming and somewhat inaccurate method is by moving around the product in an open field.  Many wireless developers don’t have the large budget for a conventional radiation test setup, or the time to perform open range testing. The RMS-06x0 gives a true and rapid insight into a product’s RF performance for a fractional cost of alternative methods.
Made in The Netherlands by MegiQ, a developer of low cost RF test and measurement tools, the RMS-06x0 Radiation Measurement System is available now from Saelig Company, Inc. their USA technical distributor. Power supply measurements and logging?

Try GWInstek's GPM-8213!

The GW Instek GPM-8213 AC Power Meter has been designed specifically for power measurements on single-phase AC power supplies. This instrument offers high-accuracy voltage, current, and power measurement capabilities from both front- and rear-panel inputs, presenting users with clear, convenient, and accurate AC power measurements.
The GW Instek GW-GPM-8213 provides two display modes in order to maximize its measurement usefulness. In the Standard Mode, it simultaneously displays eight measurement parameters (two major measurements and six secondary measurements and related measurement settings); this is ideal for R&D and engineering situations. The Simple Mode displays only 4 measurement parameters, which is more suitable for production environments.
The nineteen power measurement parameters include: voltage (Vrms/V+pk /V-pk), current (Irms/ I+pk /I-pk), frequency (VHz/IHz), power (P/ P+pk /P-pk), crest factor (CFV/CFI), apparent power (VA), reactive power (VAR), power factor (PF), phase angle (DEG), total harmonic distortion (THDV/THDI), high-accuracy voltage/current/power measurement capabilities (reading: ±0.1%; level: ±0.1%).
Compared with products of the same category, the GW Instek GW-GPM-8213 provides more diverse measurement parameters and functions, including voltage, current, frequency, active power, apparent power, reactive power, power factor, crest factor, and total harmonic distortion measurements. The GW-GPM-8213 also features an integral measurement function for indicating a test device’s power or current consumption over time. Users can set a measurement period to show transient power integration, dividing the result by elapsed time to calculate the test device’s average power.
The GW Instek GW-GPM-8213 can fully meet the requirements of IEC 62301/EN 50564 standby power consumption test requirements, including measurement frequency bandwidth of DC to 6kHz, minimum current level of 5mA (resolution: 0.1uA), and power (1uW for minimum current and voltage levels, 1mW for maximum current and voltage levels).  For larger power measurements, users can utilize the terminals on the rear panel to conduct 600V/20A measurements using an external transformer: set the multiplying factor (1 to 9999) to modify the displayed readings of the input voltage or current values without additional calculations.  The built-in RS-232C, USB, and LAN interfaces can be used for external control and automatic test system requirements.
