NEW! Saelig now has HDMI, Ethernet, Bluetooth, & Video test solutions from Teledyne LeCroy: http://bit.ly/2bXzHEt
Teledyne LeCroy recently acquired two companies
in its endeavor to become the leading brand for protocol
test, with competencies that expand their protocol solution offerings into video protocols including
HDMI and SDI with the acquisition of Quantum Data and wireless protocols including Bluetooth®
and 802.11(Wi-Fi) with acquisition of Frontline Test Equipment.
I’ve known Frontline Test Equipment’s
CEO David Bean since around 2006 when I met him at the ESC trade shows - and I've always admired their products. David Bean said, "We're excited to be joining Teledyne LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group. In our markets we see the increased need for customers to analyze multiple protocol standards and to test their devices for interoperability in increasingly complex environments. LeCroy's wide range of protocol test tools will combine nicely with our wireless capabilities to provide a more complete solution.” FTE has quickly become the market leader in Bluetooth
protocol analysis test tools and packet sniffers, as well as analysis and
emulation tools for a wide range of additional technologies.
Teledyne LeCroy’s FTE acquisition will enhance
its offerings of Serial Data Protocol Analysis and Test Tools, capitalize on the
growing customer demand for Bluetooth test tools, further penetrate the
automotive market for emerging serial data test requirements, and attack the
Internet of Things (IoT) emergence including Health and Fitness sensor
integration.
And Teledyne LeCroy’s acquisition of Quantum Data enables it to expand into audio and video test solutions, covering HDMI video generators and test tools for the video broadcast market’s emerging serial data test requirements.
Teledyne LeCroy's Chief Executive
Officer Tom Reslewic said, "The Quantum Data acquisition will allow
Teledyne LeCroy to expand its protocol test portfolio into important video
technologies like HDMI and SDI. These standards are key to emerging
capabilities in consumer electronics, professional video and studio/broadcast
applications. We anticipate a growing need for protocol test tools among
designers in these markets. This expansion into adjacent video protocol
standards reflects Teledyne's commitment to build a market leading presence
across a wide array of serial data communications standards through Teledyne
LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group."
These acquisitions clearly support Teledyne
LeCroy’s vision of becoming the leading brand for protocol test, with
competencies that will enable the company to benefit from emerging industry
trends requiring faster serial data connections in an expanding array of
applications.
