SiC/GaN Intro ...

Silicon (Si) power devices have dominated power electronics due to their low cost volume production, excellent starting material quality, ease of fabrication, and proven reliability. Although Si power devices continue to make progress, they are approaching their operational limits primarily due to their relatively low bandgap and critical electric field that result in high conduction and switching losses, and poor high temperature performance. Here's a useful webinar on this subject.  Users might also like our Clipper Probe:  https://www.saelig.com/MFR00150/MFR00150001.htm

SIGLENT’s Amazing SDG6052X 2-ch 500MHz 16-bit Pulse/Arbitrary Waveform Generators!

SIGLENT’s SDG6052X Dual-Channel Pulse/Arbitrary Waveform Generators produces signals up to 500MHz, using a sample rate of 2.4GSa/s and 16-bit vertical resolution giving a 80dB dynamic range. This series is designed using Siglent’s proprietary TrueArb and EasyPulse technologies that help to solve the weaknesses inherent in traditional DDS generators when generating arbitrary, square and pulse waveforms. TrueArb technology generates arbitrary waveforms “point-by-point” to create a very low jitter (< 150ps) output signal from stored memory. EasyPulse technology successfully overcomes jitter weakness in DDS designs and helps to produce precise square/pulse waveforms. Benefiting from a 2.4GSa/s and 16-bit sampling system, the SDG6000X generators achieve extremely high accuracy performance in both time domain and amplitude, resulting in more accurately reconstructed waveforms with lower distortion, low noise floor, and excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

Counterfeiters Amping Up Their Game (ESP News):

Today, the counterfeit game has changed.  In addition to the physical/traditional approaches to counterfeiting – your black topping, remarking or reusing used parts — criminals have found new ways to scam prospective clients.

With government estimates that counterfeit semiconductors and other electronic parts make up a percentage of the Department of Defense supply chain, the issue – and the fight against it — has accelerated.

16 Factors In Choosing an Oscilloscope

Choosing the best new digital oscilloscope for your needs can be challenging, especially now as there are so many more things you can now do with a scope. Where will it be used? On the bench, or does it need to be portable for traveling to a customer site? Do you need to project the image for lots of people to see or is it just for your use? How many electrical signals do you need to measure at once? Analog and digital signals? What is the highest frequency of signal you need to measure? What bandwidth do you need?

Remember – when seeing a good representation of a 50MHz square-wave you’ll need a scope bandwidth of at least 500MHz. Cost and bandwidth are related! What are the maximum and minimum amplitudes of signals that you need to measure? Are your signals repetitive or single shot? Do you need to view signals in the frequency domain (spectrum analysis) as well as the time domain? What’s your budget?
