Our latest Newsletter looks at ultrasonics ...

... for rapid measurements. Ultrasonics can be used for a wide variety of non-invasive testing applications: detecting air or water leaks or tightness, measuring fluid flow in pipes THROUGH the pipe wall, determining fluid levels inside a metal tank without penetrating the vessel wall, and measuring coating thicknesses. Coltraco Ultrasonics is an advanced British manufacturer of patented ultrasonic technology products. These devices are used in a diverse array of market sectors that include industrial, shipping and naval, safety engineering, process control, mining, offshore energy and renewables, healthcare, the environment, and military scenarios.

An overview of the features of the Coltraco Portagauge® 6 multiple echo ultrasonic thickness gauge, calibrated to BS EN 15317:2013. The Portagauge 6 boasts an accuracy of +/- 0.1mm, with a customizable minimum-thickness alarm, alerting users audibly when thickness measurements are below the user-set minimum thickness threshold. Using multi-echo ultrasonic technology, Coltraco multi-echo ultrasonic thickness gauges from Saelig can ignore paint coatings up to 20mm thick to give you the true thickness of the measured material. Version 6 is now with integrated datalogging, with 4 MB of internal storage, allowing you to store up to 200,000 individual thickness measurements, along with the date and a unique, user-set tag to identify the measurement.
