Wind Turbine Circuit Boards Discarded When Faulty!
The average cost for a replacement wind turbine is around $5,000. We recently learned that a leading European Wind Turbine company throws ALL their faulty PCBs away!
A turbine controller board made by ENERCON (below) was tested and diagnosed with the ABI #BoardMaster running a complete fault diagnostic procedure, including a selection of Power Off and Power On test techniques. These tests are being executed from the board connectors and at IC level through the use of custom cables and adapters.
Leading companies like GE Renewable Energy follow the same process in 8 countries saving GE over 20 million dollars since 2018. The amount of test data generated and logged automatically by the unparalleled BoardMaster software provides insights into a range of design flaws such as poorly specified components that can be corrected at the time of repair improving system reliability and robustness. The Device Degradation Rate can be ascertained through the in-depth evaluation of a number of sample boards aiding the implementation of effective predictive maintenance strategies.Check out the following links to learn more about ABI solutions and the Repair, don't waste! movement:

OEM Applications for PicoScopes
Pico’s USB connected test equipment is ideal for incorporation into OEM applications. Whether it’s for incorporation into a custom text fixture, rack-mounting, or for use as part of a wider system, Pico has a potential solution to a wide range of OEM challenges. Pico products with their ready-mage software drivers and high-speed A/D capabilities are ideal for OEM projects because of: their small form factor. USB connected, so they're uniquely positioned to be incorporated into other systems; they're controllable using custom software (Software Development Kit (SDK) provided as standard; code examples provided; we can help with code examples for most major programming languages.

Automaker acts to eliminate E-waste through in-house repair and maintenance
Over the past 5 years, auto manufacturers have begun to mitigate the amount of waste going to landfills by recycling and incinerating up to 87% of the waste produced in their plants. With around 48kg of total waste generated per vehicle produced, and with the production of EVs expected to boom in line with increased demand, even 10% of this waste going to landfill is far too high. Recycling raw materials for reuse is an effective way of reducing waste, but what happens to products such as electronic circuit boards, consisting of dozens of components and different metals, that cannot be recycled so simply?

Eliminate Inrush Current!
Brand new AC to DC front-end PFC stage from Pulsiv has now completely eliminated inrush current. It’s not managed or reduced, it has been eliminated. This removes the need for additional components, simplifies design and reduces cost. There are further gains to be achieved in larger installations too.
