Reverse engineering recreates missing schematics!

Reverse engineering is a great way to extend the life of critical assets. #RevEng allows users to recreate schematics from any existing circuit board in good working order. RevEng not only makes the process faster, but it's also extremely reliable and approved by the world's top defence, military and transportation organisations. Tune back in to watch the second episode of the ABI Labs RevEng Edition where we will explain in more detail how the user interface works and the steps that operators need to follow to generate a netlist and to convert it into a schematic.

Catch up with the series so far on YouTube, subscribe and enable notifications so you'll know as soon as the video is out! ABI Labs Playlist: https://lnkd.in/dUeQQXh

Saelig Introduces New, Improved Siglent SHS-X Handheld Two-channel 100/200MHz Digital Oscilloscopes

Saelig Introduces New, Improved Siglent SHS-X Handheld Two-channel 100/200MHz Digital Oscilloscopes

The SHS-X Handheld Oscilloscopes combine the functions of benchtop oscilloscope, multimeter, and recorder, including trend plot and waveform recorder, along with complex serial decoding/triggering, in isolated and non-isolated versions.

Fairport, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. has introduced the new and improved Siglent SHS-X Handheld Two-channel Digital Oscilloscopes, which are available in 100MHz and 200MHz analog bandwidths and isolated or non-isolated versions, with 1GSa/s sample rate and 12Mpts memory depth.  The SHS800X versions have two non-isolated scope channels and one isolated multimeter channel, while the SHS1000X models feature full isolation: between the two oscilloscope channels, the multimeter channel, the power adapter, and the USB host/device port. The maximum analog voltage input for the isolated SHS1000X channels is CATIII 600 Vrms, CATII 1000 Vrms. For all SHS-X models the maximum input for the multimeter channel is CATIII 600 Vrms, CATII 1000 Vrms.

Based on the success of Siglent’s previous SHS portable scopes, the new -X series adds increased memory depth, a faster waveform capture rate of 100,000 wfm/s, timebase down to 1ns/div, enhanced triggering choices (Edge, Slope, Pulse Width, Window, Runt, Interval, Dropout, Pattern, Video), serial trigger decoding (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN), improved FFT precision, and waveform recording of up to 50MB internal or 2GB external.   The user-friendly front panel design allows quick access to most of the commonly used scope functions. The SHS810X is the 100MHz version and the SHS820X is the 200MHz version of non-isolated scopes, while the SHS1102X is the 100MHz version and the SHS1202X is the 200MHz version of fully-isolated version.

Saelig Introduces Improved Aim-TTi Handheld RF Spectrum Analyzers

These versatile, easy-use, touch-screen RF tools offer enhanced sensitivity and capabilities with long battery life; a lightweight and truly handheld instrument that incorporates an extensive feature set in a ruggedized case with a removable sun screen/screen protector to enhance field use.

Fairport, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced the PSA Series 3 RF Spectrum Analyzers.  Available in 1.3GHz and 2.7GHz versions, these new instruments are small, portable, and have long battery life with improvements over the previous Series 2 instruments, even rivalling more expensive handheld RF products.  Improvements include a lower noise floor for increased sensitivity, a new frequency counter, additional RMS, Sample, and Average detector modes, and RBW selectable down to 300Hz.  PSA Series 3 Analyzers incorporate a 4.3” (11cm) backlit TFT color touch-screen display, with a high-capacity rechargeable Li-ion battery to give more than three hours of continuous operation per charge. The PSA Series 3 PSA1303 has a frequency range of 1MHz to 1.3GHz, while the PSA2703 operates up to 2.7GHz, both offering a noise floor as low as -115dBm and a dynamic range of 84dB.

Built with the experience and customer input from the successful PSA Series 2 Spectrum Analyzers, the PSA Series 3’s advanced features include sweep modes (continuous, single, peak hold and sweep average), AM/FM audio demodulation with built-in speaker, and data logging for traces, data points, or screen images (with storage for 10,000 entries per file triggered from a key press, internal timer, external trigger, or the limits comparator).  Traces or complete screen images can be saved to file and compensation tables for antennae or other external transducers can be created and loaded.  USB host and device connectors allow the use of USB Flash drives or direct connection to a PC. Control of PSA Series 3 Analyzers is by finger-operated touch-screen soft keys in a hierarchical menu system that gives rapid access to menu functions.  Additional hard keys are provided for marker movement and short cuts to all major functions.

Solving Our E-Waste Problem? Repair, Don’t Waste!

The Solution to Our E-Waste Problem? Repair, Don’t Waste! If the cost of repairing a circuit board is about 10% of buying a new one, why are we throwing them away so easily? Too hard to fix?

The modern world runs on electronic systems that are designed to last many years. Tons of natural resources are carved out every day to produce semiconductor chips and other components. These will eventually be mounted on printed circuit boards (PCB) and will effectively become the brain of most pieces of industrial technology. These expensive circuit board assemblies are used in industrial applications to help control our vehicles, production machinery, airplanes, wind turbines, and so on. Typically costing from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars, they are ultimately used to manage power, safety systems, monitoring devices, quality checks, and many other functions.

The problem is that, over time, the components that make up these circuit boards get tired and die. Software “upgrades” can also slow down or otherwise affect their functioning.

In either case, a technician or engineer armed with the right diagnostic tools and training could diagnose the issue, replace the broken down and generally inexpensive components and save other components in the device from being dumped along with the circuit board.

So, why do so many circuit cards, and sometimes entire pieces of equipment, continue to be thrown away?  Too hard to fix? https://snip.ly/472u7e
