Unique Isolated High CMRR 4-ch 14-bit 200MHz Oscilloscope

The CS448 is a unique isolated high CMRR 4-ch 14-bit 200MHz oscilloscope, designed to measure all the signals in an operating full or three phase power electronic switching bridge. Examples include gate drives to measure voltage and charge, the power switch to measure loss and parasitic stress, the output to measure power and spectrum for EMC compliance, and the control system for Gain/Phase and stability. The PC-based CS448 oscilloscope includes an isolated signal generator for stimulus, and eight digital inputs to measure control signals. Two CS448's can be slaved to make an 8 channel oscilloscope with coherent sampling.

MSR Electronics MSR86 compact, reusable -100degC temperature data logger

Saelig Company, Inc. has introduced the MSR Electronics MSR86 – a compact, reusable temperature data logger that is equipped with an external sensor for covering the range of -100 to +150degC to allow continuous monitoring of storage and shipping temperatures for perishable goods. A built-in multifunction LCD display shows the current temperature reading as well as minimum, maximum, and average values, the status of the logger and the alarm condition, as well as the battery charge level. The MSR86 logger is tamper-proof and records encrypted, password-protected measurements for compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines. The logger's accuracy is documented by a traceable calibration certificate available in its internal memory. The MSR86 is DIN12830 and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and meets US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for the storage and transport of chilled and frozen foods, as well as those of the EU.

PicoScope 7 T&M Signal Generator / AWG completed!

With the release of PicoScope 7 T&M Early Access version 7.0.90 – scheduled for next Tuesday, 18th January – the PicoScope 7 development team reached a significant milestone: completion of the Signal Generator / AWG editor function.

Most T&M PicoScope models are equipped with a Signal Generator that can deliver Sine, Square, Triangle, Ramp, Sin(x)/x, Gaussian, Half sine, White noise and PRBS waveforms. This is complemented with a sweep function that enables device testing to be performed over a predefined frequency range – perfect for testing filters, operational amplifiers etc., over their specified operating range.

More complex devices need to be tested using real-world waveforms, which is where an AWG (Arbitrary Waveform Generator) comes in handy. Many PicoScopes include an AWG, which can now be fully controlled from within the PicoScope 7 user interface.

Real-world waveforms captured with a PicoScope can be loaded into the AWG memory and replayed as needed for device testing and performance verification. Imagine, for example, a staged car crash with sensors set to record the impact characteristics. It’s an expensive test, so something that you’d only want to do once. But with the waveforms saved, they can subsequently be replayed as often as needed with the PicoScope AWG to aid development of an airbag deployment system and other safety related systems.

Furthermore, the original waveform can be modified with the AWG editor to stress the device under test, to see how it behaves at the extremes of its specification and with “known good” and “known bad” signals for Go/No go testing.

The latest versions of PicoScope 7 T&M Early Access for Windows, Linux and MacOS respectively are available here: https://oem.picotech.com/p7beta/download

Rackmount 13.6GHz RF Signal Generator Has IQ Modulation

The Rigol DSG3136B RF Signal Generator series covers a frequency range of 9kHz to 6.5GHz or 13.6GHz with an amplitude accuracy of <0.5dB (typ.) and a phase noise of less than -116dBc/Hz @ 20kHz. The output is specified from -120dBm to + 20dBm. The <2ppm standard frequency stability of the internal reference clock can be enhanced with an optional 5ppb clock. Standard modulations of AM/FM /ΦM up to 3.6 GHz are provided with a frequency resolution of 0.01Hz. All modulations can be controlled by an internal or external source. The 4.3” TFT LCD with menu keys and logical front panel button/wheel control make for an easy to use instrument. USB and LAN are available as standard remote control interfaces, as is support for SCPI control commands.

The DSG3000B RF Signal Generator series simplifies high power setup since an external amplifier is not needed. Engineers can generate more complex signals without additional hardware using the modulation schemes supplied in the DSG3000B with both internal and external IQ modulation capabilities.
